Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both lawyers. As a young girl of just five and moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled at the Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor by the age of six. Through the years, she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing dance, acting and singing. When she was ten, she was performing and taking the lead in various Stagecoach shows and school productions. The casting process began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first film appearance came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film broke records for beginning-day and weekend-opening sales as well as being the most-grossing feature in 2001. Critics have praised both the film, as well as the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Emma's performance was nominated and was awarded five awards for the movie.
