Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. He is the face of Colorado for a lot of people around the world. In my travels I've encountered people from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell people you're from Colorado, the first words they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time with small folk groups. The track was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver saw an early rendition he knew right away the song could be an instant hit. He recorded it within a couple of days of having performed in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
