Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in the love of Colorado and later settled in Aspen. More than a few people traveled towards Colorado due to Denver's famous tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado as John Denver." In the year 2011, Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. To many, Denver is the Colorado image. In all my travels I've encountered many non-Colorado residents. Colorado. They will declare, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you are from Colorado. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time within small Folk Music groups. The song was written in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver heard an early version he knew right away the track could become an instant hit. A few days after performing to an excited audience at Washington D.C., the singer recorded this song.
